Nine Inch Noize
I don't really have a lot to say about this collaboration. I thought it was pretty good, but also reminded me that I'm not actually much of Nine Inch Nails fan.
Pretty Hate Machine is a special album to me, and there are select songs that I absolutely love — bangers like "The Hand That Feeds" — but, those aside, I don't often go out of my way to listen to their albums. In fact, they have almost two decades of material I have had no real engagement with.
I've always been more interested in Trent Reznor's soundtrack work, going all the way back to his work on id Software's very first Quake game. Nine Inch Noize does a lot to make songs I'm largely indifferent to a little more groovy and accessible, but I doubt I'll be returning to this album much.
It's not that I have any strong critiques of Nine Inch Nails, it's actually my lack of a strong reaction that works against them.
