Hello everyone. Aside from this being the tail end of summer, I’ve been extremely busy with work and other obligations, so the site has been semi-dormant for the last two weeks. Further adding to that is the fact that UFC 151 has been cancelled, so there will not be any new MMA content until September 22nd. I’m not going to get into the circus surrounding that turn of events, I’ll just leave it at “it sucks”.
I’ve got some new Magic: the Gathering content coming, as well as some other posts in the works. Fear not, the Shack has not fallen by the wayside — as it has so many times before in the 12 years I’ve run this place. Expect new postings within the next 3-4 days.
Until then, get outside for fuck’s sakes! :)

After a great series of preliminary fights, UFC 150 started off strong on the pay-per-view side with a good fight between Max Holloway and Justin Lawrence. Buddy Roberts had absolutely no answer for Okami’s grappling, and basically gave up when caught in full mount. All told, the card was pretty good except for the outcome of the main event. Ending in a contentious decision, the fight between Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson was scored closely and was, to be honest, a fight that didn’t feature a whole lot of action. Both guys matched up very well and neither pressed any sort of advantage; this is one of those times where I didn’t envy the judges.
It’s getting clichéd at this point, but here were are yet again with a UFC card that suffered from a number of injury-related changes to the original line-up. I’m not going to retread the same ground as I have before; the UFC hasn’t had a good year in terms of keeping fight cards intact between their announcement and presentation date. Regardless, UFC 150 does have some positive momentum in that last week’s UFC on FOX 4 card delivered one of the best free MMA events in recent history.
