Words and things, mostly words.
I finally got around to using my token for a free Ravnica Allegiance draft on MTG Arena. I had fun in the draft, although I didn’t do as well as I thought I should have. A few games came down to me just drawing poorly, losing to opponents who had good decks and who gave me zero extra outs. I drafted a Gruul deck that would have been almost perfect if it had a few more 2-drops — I had too many 3s and lacked just a bit of early pressure. I also could have used a little more removal, I feel like I overcompensated after ending up with only 9 playable creatures in my paper draft last Friday.
The Riot mechanic is serious business, and I ended up going 2-1 against an opponent who had Rhythm of the Wild in every damn game. The only reason I was able to beat them was by filling the board with a bunch of creatures and casting End-Raze Forerunners. Turns out Overrun is still good, even if you staple it to an expensive creature.
