Words and things, mostly words.
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg was admitted to hospital yesterday, after injuring herself — and reportedly fracturing 3 ribs — in a fall which took place in her office. Ginsburg, who is 85, is somewhat of a favourite of the overly online liberal contingent, elevating her profile as a pop culture figure for some reason. I don’t know who started the ‘Notorious RBG’ meme, but it’s pretty weird given the subject. (And the meme deserves every bit of mockery it receives.)
Ginsburg’s health has been a concern for some time, essentially since the moment it was confirmed that Donald Trump would be the 45th President of the United States. In addition to not fighting for the nomination of Merrick Garland, which the Senate simply ignored, Barrack Obama seemed so confident that the next president would be a Democrat that no one seemed concerned that Ginsburg was approaching her mid-80s.
As such, liberals are going to be clutching their pearls every time a strong gust of wind looks like it might knock RBG off her feet. This latest health scare is yet another reminder of how embarrassing the Obama administration was in many respects. There is a real chance RBG will be replaced and it will be Trump choosing her successor, which would be his third Supreme Court appointment. I dunno, maybe 11-dimensional chess is more complicated than previously thought.
